What is included in the LB7 Duramax Fuel Upgrades collection?
This collection covers the hard fuel-system hardware we keep on the shelf for the 6.6L Duramax.
You get a CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum fuel filter delete and bypass kit, a precision CNC-machined steel crankshaft seal driver kit, and a CNC-machined fuel pressure relief valve plug for the 2001 to 2004 LB7 rail.
The fuel filter delete and the crankshaft seal driver kit both fit the full 2001 to 2016 LB7 through LML range, while the relief valve plug is LB7 only.
We do not carry the CP3 injection pump fuel pressure regulator itself in this lineup, so confirm the exact part you need before ordering.
Where is the fuel pressure regulator located on a 2001 to 2004 LB7 Duramax?
On the LB7 the fuel pressure regulator, the metering solenoid that controls rail pressure, is mounted on the back of the CP3 injection pump down in the engine valley under the intake manifold.
The fuel rail pressure sensor sits on the driver-side fuel rail near the fuel junction block.
Our relief valve plug in this collection goes on the fuel rail, not the pump, because it blocks the spring-loaded rail relief valve.
The pump-mounted regulator and the rail-mounted relief valve are two different parts, so the location tells you which one you are chasing.
What are the symptoms of a bad LB7 fuel pressure regulator?
A failing CP3 fuel pressure regulator usually shows up as a long crank or hard start, a rough or surging idle, a noticeable power loss under load, and heavy smoke.
Rail pressure will read higher or lower than commanded on a scan tool.
Those symptoms point at the pump-mounted regulator, which is not part of this collection.
We carry the rail relief valve plug instead, so confirm whether you need the pump regulator or the rail plug before you order.
What do the P0089 and P0090 codes mean on an LB7 Duramax?
P0089 is the fuel pressure regulator performance code, and it sets when actual rail pressure is far from commanded, often more than 20 MPa off.
P0090 is the regulator control circuit code, and it points at a wiring, connector, or solenoid fault on the pump-mounted regulator.
Both codes trace back to the CP3 fuel pressure regulator and its harness, not to the rail relief valve.
The relief valve plug in this collection will not clear P0089 or P0090, so diagnose the pump regulator and its wiring first.
Will an LBZ fuel pressure regulator fit or work on an LB7?
No, the LBZ regulator does not swap onto an LB7.
The LB7 fuel pressure regulator is integral to the LB7 CP3 pump and uses a different mounting and calibration than the LBZ.
Neither the LB7 nor the LBZ pump-mounted regulator is part of this collection.
We stock the rail relief valve plug for the LB7, so confirm your engine code and the exact part before ordering.
What does the fuel pressure relief valve plug do for an LB7?
The relief valve plug replaces the spring-loaded fuel pressure relief valve on the LB7 fuel rail so it cannot crack open and bleed off rail pressure.
It is built from CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum and 17-4 stainless steel with a high-pressure seal.
This part is for tuned trucks running above-stock rail pressure where the factory safety valve opens early and robs fuel pressure under load.
Because it removes a factory pressure-relief safety valve, it is for competition and closed-course off-road use only.
Why delete the fuel filter housing on a Duramax?
The fuel filter delete and bypass kit removes the factory filter housing and its restriction so lift pressure feeds the CP3 cleanly.
Our kit uses a CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum block-off plate with anodized barbed fittings and high-pressure fuel-resistant Viton O-rings.
It is sized for the 2001 to 2016 LB7 through LML and is a common cleanup on track and competition fuel systems.
Remember that deleting the housing also removes factory filtration, so plan an upstream filter solution for a street-driven truck.
What is the crankshaft seal driver kit used for?
The crankshaft seal driver kit is a service tool that seats the front and rear main crank seals square and straight so the sealing lip is not rolled or distorted.
The driver head and centering shaft are CNC-machined steel for a precision fit on the 6.6L Duramax.
It fits the 2001 to 2016 LB7 through LML family.
A properly driven seal stops the oil weep across the bellhousing and oil pan that a hammer-in install often causes.
Do these fuel upgrades fit the LLY, LBZ, LMM, and LML Duramax too?
Yes, the fuel filter delete and the crankshaft seal driver kit both fit the full 2001 to 2016 Duramax family, LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, and LML, in Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 trucks.
The fuel pressure relief valve plug is LB7 only, 2001 to 2004, because the later engines use a different rail and relief valve layout.
Always match the part to your engine code and year before ordering.
The 2004 model year splits at the LLY changeover, so a late 2004 truck is an LLY, not an LB7.
Are these fuel upgrades street legal, and what is the warranty and return policy?
The crankshaft seal driver kit is a 50-state street-legal service tool that removes or bypasses no emissions device.
The fuel filter delete and the fuel pressure relief valve plug are competition-oriented fuel-system modifications, and the plug removes a factory pressure-relief safety valve, so those parts are for competition and closed-course off-road use only, with local emissions and equipment laws the buyer's responsibility.
